Deposit

Pay with any token in your wallet on Robinhood Chain. Aurum swaps it if needed, splits it into the vault's two tokens and adds it to the vault, and you get vault shares in return.

Before you start

You need to be signed in, and to have funds on Robinhood Chain plus a little ETH for network fees. See Add funds. The Quickstart walks through a first deposit in short.

Open the deposit window

Click Deposit next to a vault in the list, or on the vault's own page. The window shows the vault's APY, its size and range, and what happens to your money.

The deposit window. Signed in, the right-hand side becomes the form.

Choose what to pay with

Click the token next to the amount to see everything in your wallet, with balances.

  • The vault's own tokens come first, marked No swap. Paying with one of them skips the swap and its fee.
  • Any other token is first swapped into one of the vault's tokens (USDG where the vault has it) through 0x, a swap service, for a 0.25% fee.
  • Paying with ETH, Aurum keeps 0.0003 ETH back, so the network fees of the next steps can still be paid.

Enter an amount

Type an amount, or tap 25%, 50%, 75% or Max. The line under it shows the value in dollars.

Check the summary

LineWhat it says
You depositWhat goes into the vault, in dollars, after the swap fee
RouteDirect, no swap, or the swap, such as ETH → USDG via 0x, with the amount you'll get
Swap fee0.25%, only when there's a swap
Network feeAn estimate of the gas for all the steps together
Est. yieldWhat the deposit would earn in a year at today's APY. It's an estimate: the APY changes, and it's shown before Aurum's fee

If the network fees come to more than half of the deposit, the window says so. A larger amount spreads them better.

The steps

Click Deposit and the window lists the steps and ticks them off:

  1. Approve your tokenOnly when it's swapped: lets 0x use exactly this amount.
  2. SwapOnly when needed: your token becomes one of the vault's own, through 0x.
  3. Approve the vault's tokenLets the Aurum zap, the contract that does the deposit, use exactly this amount.
  4. DepositThe zap splits your token into both of the vault's tokens and adds them to the vault.

An approval you gave before for at least this amount is skipped. With your own wallet, you confirm each step in it. With a wallet made for you, the steps are signed as soon as you click Deposit; see Account and wallet.

When the last step is done, the window says You're in, with a link to the transaction. Your deposit shows up in your portfolio shortly after.

What happens in the vault

  • Splitting takes a swap. The zap swaps part of your token for the vault's other token in the vault's own pool, at that pool's trading fee (its fee tier). How much depends on where the price sits in the range.
  • The vault harvests first, so you don't buy into earnings made before you joined; see Harvesting and compounding.
  • You get vault shares in your wallet: your slice of the vault from now on.
  • Leftovers come back. Anything the zap couldn't use, usually a tiny amount of one token, is returned to your wallet in the same transaction.

Price limits

Every deposit has limits on how far the price may move while it's on its way: 0.5% on the swap through 0x, 1% on the zap's swap in the pool, and at least 99% of the expected vault shares. If the price moves further, that step is cancelled instead of going through at a worse price, and you can try again.

Deposits also only go through while the vault's price is calm, close to its recent average. See Rebalancing for why.

When a step doesn't go through

The window marks the step that failed and says why. Try again picks up at that step: what's already done stays done. If a swap went through and the deposit didn't, the swapped token is in your wallet, and trying again deposits it. Back is only offered while nothing has been sent yet.
